What is STRONG by Zumba™?
STRONG by Zumba™ is a high intensity interval-training workout driven by the science of Synced Music Motivation. Unlike all other workouts, we don’t just create moves to a playlist. Instead, we craft and reverse engineer the songs to match every move, driving the intensity in a challenging progression that provides a total body workout. The result is a group fitness experience unlike any other. Classes are one hour in length.
The music in STRONG by Zumba™ was crafted to drive the intensity in a challenging progression that provides a total body workout.
This class will push you past your limits to help you reach your fitness goals faster. Using your own body weight, you will gain muscular endurance, tone, and definition, and you will experience an increased after burn.
There are four Quadrants
This 45-minute vigorous workout is divided into four sections, or quadrants. We start with a warm-up (quadrant one, called Ignite), which is focused on prepping your body for the workout by raising your heart rate with moves like jumping jacks, as well as incorporating some mobility work with moves like leg swings and dynamic hip stretches.
Quadrant two, known as Fire Up, incorporates moves like punches and squats. We keep it moving; pretty much zero rest in between exercises. Quadrant three we call Push Your Limits. We build off the previous exercises turning them into mini combinations (like side squats combined with punches). There’s active recovery involved here but you try to keep moving. You are encouraged to modify as needed. Finally, quadrant four, Floor work, feature planking and crunching on mats to really work our abs (as opposed to the total-body focus in the first three quadrants).
We also use music as the main motivator with this high intensity workout!
How does STRONG by Zumba™ differ from a Zumba® class?
A traditional Zumba® class is based on the integration of dance and dance-type movements, creating a high-cardio, total-body workout.
STRONG by Zumba™ is a High Intensity Interval Training class using more traditional fitness moves for a more athletic, conditioning-style workout. You use your own body weight as resistance to achieve muscle definition. There are movements inspired by dance but these are limited compared to a Zumba® class, so it’s perfect for those not comfortable in a full-out dance class.
Both classes are driven by a unique musical experience unlike anything else in the industry.
How does this program differ from other HIIT workouts?
In all other workouts, music is just an afterthought and chosen independently of the moves and structure of the class. In a STRONG by Zumba™ class, music is the key element. First, we develop moves to drive specific results, then we reverse engineer and craft music to match every single move. The result is a revolutionary, perfectly synced workout that increases your motivation and allows you to push farther to achieve better results.
